i'm in a good mood
I played piano for the first time in months today...the beginning of Chopin's 2nd ballade. it was so much fun...I wish I had a piano in my room so I could play without people hearing, since I really suck. but its fun anyway. I'm also joining a brass quintet...it's going to be intense. raaar I can't wait. I was in a fantastic mood today...all I did was practice and listen to outstanding music. yay. aaahhhhhh it's HOT
it's 80 degrees inside my room. The air conditioning has mysteriously stopped working in all the rooms on my floor. This is unbearable...how am I supposed to sleep in this?? rar. I also came into my room a few minutes ago, saw that the lights were off, and yelled it's HOT! and my roommate was asleep. hahaha In other news, my Moosewood came the other day. It's sweet. I love the response on it. And I ordered a recording of Chuch Windows yesterday because for some reason the library here doesn't have a cd of it. I can't wait. eli epstein is the man
because he visualizes volumes as dairy products...pianissimo is skim milk, fortissimo is buttermilk, and you fill in everything in between. and just in general, he's the man. in other news, I FINALLY found a mouthpiece that i like...moosewood B12, with a wide rim (M5). sweet. and fuck etk for discriminating against guys at their GI Joe themed party. seriously. whats going on. OH and I bought the complete Ravel Orchestral works today, Abbado with the London Symphony. I'm so unbelievably pumped for these recordings. so I figured out my schedule for next semester...Theory part II, Human Event part II, and astronomy, plus all the music stuff. Unfortunately all the theory classes are in the morning, so I'll still have 8:40 classes 3 days of the week and 9:40 the other 2. And the astronomy labs are at night obviously, but they're 2 and a half frickin hours long....7:30 to 10 on Mondays. I was hoping to have an all afternoon schedule, but oh well. at least I'm taking astronomy...the Damasheks will be proud. I wore pants all day for the first day yesterday!! I also discovered that I only brought 1 pair of non-concert pants with me, so I went out and bought some sweatpants, they're comfy as hell. It's only 76°, and it feels kinda chilly...weird. I've been listening to the beginning of Symphonie Fantastique a lot...like a LOT. I'm seriously becoming obsessed with it. But then again it's freaking amazing, so it's okay. |

dirty bitches and beer
I just took a pounding from a short Greek man with a little black beard, in the form of a Music and Culture midterm. To celebrate I plan on going out tonight to a mud wrestling party with the above theme and wiping out all of my brain cells that have anything to do with remembering this midterm. On the plus side, we read a bunch of cool stuff in orchestra, and I threw down the 2nd part to Brahms 1...me and Sally were sizzling. My scores also came from Amazon the other day, so now I don't have to read along with Mahler scores only, but I can also nerd out in my room with the Brandenburg Concertos, the Brahms Requiem, Don Juan, Symphonie Fantastique, Scheherazade, the Rite of Spring, and the Firebird. My dad also sent me a crapload of earplugs...by a crapload I mean like 500, with a dispenser that screws into the wall. Current Mood: awakeCurrent Music: ein alpensymphonie |

10 reasons why chocolate is better than sex
1. You can GET chocolate. 2. You can safely have chocolate while driving. 3. You can make chocolate last as long as you want to. 4. You can even have chocolate in front of your mother. 5. When you have chocolate, it doesn't keep your neighbors awake. 6. With chocolate, there is no need to fake it. 7. Chocolate won't get you pregnant. 8. You can have chocolate at any time of the month. 9. Good chocolate is easy to find. 10. With chocolate, size doesn't matter. Thank you Julian. Current Mood: hungryCurrent Music: brahms trio |

In my lesson today, Dr. John spent probably close to 30 minutes talking about mouthpieces and having me try like 3,000 different ones. Honestly I DON'T CARE. I have bigger things to care about than a mouthpiece, like technique for example. But then I made Beethoven 7 my bitch, so it's okay. in other news, I took my computer into a practice room today and I get wireless. sweeeeeet. I also recorded all 3 parts to the Beethoven 3 trio and mixed them together....it was hott. Der Freischutz tomorrow. Brahms this week, finally. I'm playing assistant on the violin concerto and 2nd on the overture (Academic Festival). I can't wait. Current Music: schubert mass in e flat |

I walked a total of 3ish miles to pick up A SHELL. it was worth it though...I also got football tickets. Current Mood: hotCurrent Music: prokofiev romeo & juliet |
